James Raper 1948 – 2014
The sudden death of James Raper brought a deep sense of sadness to everyone connected with the Leeds and Moortown Furniture Store.
As one of the Store’s most loyal volunteers James had not only spent a number of years serving the charity as a warehouseman and driver, he had through that work passed on a whole range of experience and skills to countless numbers of employment trainees.
James, who was just 66 years of age, really was a one off. Every day he was invariably the first in and the last out, and he quite often gave up weekends and Bank Holidays to help ensure that the charity operated efficiently.
Summing up the thoughts of everyone at L&MFS General Manager John Gamson said: “James really was special. As a volunteer he was so incredibly reliable that he was an example to us all. He loved his work, and although we are always told that no one is irreplaceable filling the gap James’ death has created will be a very real challenge”.
James’ funeral will take place at 11am on Wednesday the 18th June at Lawnswood Cemetery.
Our thoughts and prayers are with and for James’ family.
